Inaugural session of NSCME

The first National Congress of Continuing Education in Neurosurgery and the first National Center for Neurological Diseases (Xuanwu) International Neurosurgical Forum, jointly sponsored by the National Center for Neurological Diseases (Xuanwu), Xuanwu Hospital of Capital University of Medical Science and Technology, the China Primary Health Care Foundation, and the China Society for the Promotion of Science and Technology for Human Health, were successfully held in Beijing on August 25th – 27th, 2023, respectively.

With the theme of "Inheritance, Collaboration, Innovation, and Development," the conference aims to improve the diagnostic and treatment abilities of neurosurgeons, promote the standardised development of continuing education, and cultivate high-quality neurosurgical specialists so as to build a platform for neurosurgeons and related specialists to exchange ideas and learn from each other. The conference held six directions of special competence training courses, four directions of diagnostic and treatment capacity enhancement training camps, and eight thematic forums, attracting more than 3,000 neurosurgeons to participate in the conference, and more than half of them came from the grass-roots level of the county.

At 8:30 a.m. on August 26, 2023, the Congress held a grand opening ceremony. He Wei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party (CPCWDP); Yang Guanlin, Vice Chairman of the UNESCO and Health Committee of the NPC and full-time Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the CPCWDP; Zhou Liangfu, Honorary Chairman of the Congress, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and member of the Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University; and Yang Aiping, Director of the Centre for Capacity Building and Continuing Education of the National Health Commission (NHRC), were present to give guidance to the Congress, as were leaders and experts.

From August 25 to 27, the conference organized numerous specialized training camps, thematic forums, and other academic sessions for the attendees. These activities aimed to provide practical knowledge, broaden their perspectives, and offer an enjoyable and enriching academic experience.
